The Independent AIR
Invites young artist to apply for a 10 days intense residency in Silkeborg, Denmark
25th July – 3rd August 2014
The Independent AIR is a non-profit organisation that develops annual artistic residencies in Silkborg, Denmark. The organisation was created by emergent artists for students, early career and young artists as a platform to develop work and discuss questions relevant to the contemporary artistic practice.
The Independent AIR offers a new space for early career visual artists and photographers to share experiences and create a supportive community of practice for the participants and members.
This unique residency for young visual artists is held away from the busy city life and it has been running since the summer of 2013.
Up to 8 artists can take part of the Independent AIR residency. The young artists have an opportunity to show their work in round table sessions, portfolio reviews and participate in discussions initiated and guided by established international artists who visit the house during the course of the residency. The 2014 confirmed guest artists are Adam Jeppesen, David Barnes and Jens Olof Lasthein.
The residency also offers a space for young artists to create a sustainable network with other emergent artists and develop future collaborations and projects.
As a closing event, the residency participants will organise an afternoon of artist talks open to the general public at the Art Centre Silkeborg Bad. After the residency the artists will also take part in a group exhibition.
